Contestants diets have requirements of lean proteins, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. High fat and high sugary foods are prohibited. After a few days of restricting your body of sugar and salty foods your cravings for them subside so we don't want to incorporate any back in until you have the understanding of moderation and control. Alcohol and smoking are also prohibited during the program. Get Downsized is not just about weightloss it's also about creating a healthy new life. All contestants cook there own meals and keep a detailed journal of everything they eat. They are taught portion sizes more than counting the calories. They learn what and when your body uses certain foods more than others. There are choices for each meal to choose from and the choices grow as the contestant loses weight and there knowledge grows on how to eat.
